Old Rivals

Our league matches are becoming a real source of excitement and we managed to reach the dizzy heights of 12 players this time! This meant that there were some tired legs on court by the second match, but Clare was proud of the B2N teams’ performances and saw lots of improvement in both teams’ play. Clare even taught us a new trick which we tried to implement with Sarah, Clarissa and the Helens mastering it by the end of the first half.

I felt that the match against Banstead was much more even than the score would have you believe. Laura and Sarah made a great team in the defensive circle and often made great turnovers before Banstead could get near the net.

Both Helens were doing a brilliant job in centre court and both spent much of their time successfully escaping the opposition and intercepting their balls.

After what she claimed was a ‘fluke’ session some weeks ago in which Sophie managed a 95% success rate as GS, she was again on fire. Not just because she scored some fantastic goals which left both teams open-mouthed, but also because we all know that liars’ pants are, indisputably, on fire. Her claims of ‘luck’ did not stick. Sophie Tsoukkas was the team’s POM and well-deserved it was too.
