Hilcrest B vs OC's

A new season, a new team and a good start. OC’s had come down from the division above so they knew it would be a demanding game.
Georgia, Shannon, Alex, Kaylin, Abi, Helen and Holly took to the court and started determinedly, with the ball getting into the shooters quite comfortably and the mid-court defence working hard to support the circle defence in stopping the ball getting to the OC’s GS who once she had the ball was very accurate - the hard work resulted in a 14-5 quarter win. The shooting duo changed in the second quarter, with Zoe and Katie coming on and with the suggested change of tactic in defence not working as well as hoped, OC’s took the quarter 11-7, half time score 21-16.
The second half brought a revitalised team, Holly, Abi, Kaylin, Alex, Katie, Shannon and Georgia and renewed resolve. The circle defence worked more as a zone and with the attack continuing their good work getting the ball to circle, they won the quarter 14-8. The last quarter was won 15-5; a few changes put equal height into the attacking circle with Zoe at GA with Georgia, Shannon moved to WA, Kaylin to C, Helen at WD and Holly and Abi continuing in defence. The team’s pressure caused OC’s to make mistakes and they converted those mistakes. Final score 50-29.

Coach’s PS: the whole team must be congratulated. Everyone went on court and did their job, they worked together well in all combinations and should be pleased with their teamwork and performance.
