Hillcrest Netball Club started in 1969 by a small nucleus of mums looking for an outlet from the nappy washing and shopping at a sports field in Coulsdon situated on the brow of a hill, hence the name “Hillcrest”.

It was soon to be established as one of the six top clubs in Surrey having played in all the leagues Croydon and Surrey had to offer and boasting numerous County and England players along the way.

The club became independent joining Warlingham Rugby FC in 1985 and after years of fund raising they finally, helped with finances from the Sports Council and various other bodies, never looked back. The 2 new courts and facilities were officially opened by Sir Geoffrey Howe MP.

In June 2009 we celebrated the completion of building another floodlit court. The project was named Project Iris, named after a founder member Iris See, who sadly passed away. The project took five years of fund raising and hard work. It was a dream inspired by the desire to provide more court space to facilitate our existing junior and senior members.

Hillcrest currently runs six senior teams, the first team playing in the Surrey County League. Hillcrest also run a Back to Netball team and league, from which we have created a new additional senior team, taking our number of senior teams to six.

During the season they also run a mini section on every other Sunday morning from 10.00 to 11.30am for 8 to 11 years and a junior section on a Monday evening from 6.00pm to 7.30pm for 12 to 14 years both at our home ground Warlingham Rugby FC.

Despite being very competitive, Hillcrest is a very sociable and friendly club of all ages and abilities where one can make many life-long friends, so you see, from little acorns, great oak trees can grow!
