U16 Hillcrest v Dorking
A close result...
...and so on to the third and last match of the day. Again Charlotte was GK (she could make that position her own!), Ciera GD, Jodie WD, Kaylin C, Emily H WA, Lucy GA, Emily N GS. This was the toughest match of the day with Dorking being taller than us throughout the court and it took a while to work out how not throw the ball into their defensive hands; Dorking had many turn overs in the centre court area but were luckily unable to convert them as Charlotte and Ciera put in a super performance in the circle. At half time Jennaleigh came on at GS and Ines at WD.
Moving the ball into the circle was not easy as the Dorking defence were tall but the girls reset and reset and played the patience game really well, keeping possession until the circle opened up for them. Quarter scores were 3-2 7-6, 1-5, 6-2 giving a final score of 17-15.
In all matches the girls worked well in all combinations: Charlotte discovered she is a good GK, Ciera's elevation helped her in both her attacking and defending positions, Ines was a determined defence and got some timely interceptions and was a great back up on the line for the reset moments, Jodie worked hard to put her WA where she wanted her to be and created space to move the ball through court, Kaylin was the perfect centre linking the defence with attack, making awesome interceptions, Emily H used change of direction to great advantage, Lucy played a lovely GA, with give and go with Kaylin working really well, Jennaleigh's dodging was perfect in creating her space and Emily N showed her versatility in playing in both circles.
A good day had by all and a happy coach/manager.
