U16 Hillcrest v Thames Ditton
Hillcrest Ditton let up the pressure....
...and on to the second match, against Thames Ditton. Charlotte was the GK "volunteer" and promised to channel her inner Cathryn (her mum who has played such an important defensive role for Hillcrest) and this is what she did - great interceptions made all over the circle and working with Ines kept the Thames Ditton score line lower than Hillcrest's. Emily N was released back into GS and with Lucy at GA, held her space and shot really well. Emily H started at WA and Ciera at WD, Kaylin staying at centre. At half time Jennaleigh came on at GS, Emily moved to GA and Jodie came on at WD, Ciera moving to WA.
This was a closer match with the quarter scores of 5-3, 9-5, 7-4, 4-5 resulting in final score of 25-17. The girls' work rate was high and they kept the pressure on their opposition throughout the court. Having Charlotte at GK was instrumental in getting the rebounds and turning over ball. Again the centre court trio combined well, with both Ciera and Emily H driving into space and working with Kaylin to get the ball to the shooters who rotated well, with Jennaleigh creating lovely space for Lucy to drive into.
It was good to see the girls wanting the win, chasing down loose balls and putting pressure on the opposition not allowing them to play their usual game.
