Surrey Ds Victory!

On Saturday the Surrey D team took on Old Reigatians at home and came away with their first victory of the season.
With only 5 of our original members playing, Chloe and Steph made great additions to the team.
From the beginning of the first quarter both teams were neck and neck but OR managed to get ahead with a lead of 13-9 at quarter time. After the second quarter we hadn't managed to catch up and OR had widened the goal difference by 5. But with oranges, jelly babies and clear instructions from Clare at half time we were determined to go out and win the second half. The third quarter was tight but we finished one goal ahead. Although we were beginning to tire in the last quarter, very loud encouragement and support from parents and the other Hillcrest teams on the side lines, spurred us on to extend our lead and win the match 52-48.
Despite ORs height advantage in their attacking D, our defence held strong throughout and limited their opportunities to score. Solid centre court and attacking play by Hillcrest provided good service to the shooters who are developing into a successful partnership.
Every player made a positive contribution to the result and should be proud of their efforts.
