The Latest News From the U12s and U13s - Sunday 4th November

U12 Red Team

v. Ashtead A loss 13-6
v. Waverley Vipers B win 13-6

The U12 Red Team arrived at Nonsuch with an air of excitement, ready to face a tough opponent for their first match of the season. Anna B, Anna R and Amaly worked well together in the centre court, moving the ball into Elle in the circle. Our defence team had their work cut out but Jemima, Darcy and Olivia worked hard to contain Ashtead’s strong attacking team. The girls worked well together in the second half after a few positional changes, with Amaly as C, Darcy to GS and Anna B to GK, but in the end, Ashtead’s strong defence nudged ahead and Hillcrest came away with a loss.

However, this did not dampen the Hillcrest Team Spirit and the girls came out for their second match with fast feet and strong passes. Darcy and Elle worked very well in the circle and pulled Hillcrest ahead with accurate shooting. Changes to the defence put Jessica in as GK and Olivia to GD and this, supported by Jemima, ensured that Waverley Viper’s attacking team were put under pressure. The game finished with a similar score – 13-6 – but as a win for Hillcrest!

Players POM equal votes for Olivia and Amaly
Coach POM Amaly – for showing great energy, a positive attitude and for having good vision on court.

U12 Blue Team
v. KITC win 9-7
v, Fairlands A win 11-3

The U12 Blue Team included some new members to Hillcrest but all the girls were raring to go from the start! Evie stepped up to be Centre, stamping her mark on the game from the start with great passing and movement skills. Rosie worked well with Evie and Hattie to move the ball into the circle – Rosie made some fabulous runs in to receive the ball from the centre pass. Lilly W was soon showing some excellent shooting skills, surprising even herself with some tricky shots! In the defence end, Athena as WD made some good interceptions, while Amelie was confident as GK, working well with Jessica as GD, both stepping in to make some great tips and interceptions. By the second quarter, the team was flying, pulling ahead with excellent team work. KITC fought back in the third quarter, but Hillcrest kept their momentum going and kept their lead to the final whistle! Hillcrest win 9-7.

The Team stepped up to their next game with big smiles on their faces. Hattie stepped in as Centre, supported by Rosie as WA and Evie as GA. They were able to feed the circle, where Lilly was waiting to shoot and score. The defence team were strong, with Jessica, Amelie and Athena linking up to slow down the Fairlands attack team, resulting in another win – 11-3 to Hillcrest!
