A DREAM COME TRUE FOR HILLCREST

Hillcrest Netball Club have realised a five year dream on completion of their third court. A dream inspired by President and Coach Clare Nicholl’s desire to provide better facilities for all club members in many categories. Minis, juniors, seniors and vets will benefit from the opportunities created by this extra playing area. The Club celebrated this achievement with a grand opening early in June.

The Fun Day was for the official opening of Hillcrest's new floodlit court.  The Chairman of Tandridge District Council, Mrs. Glynis Whittle, started the proceedings by giving a brief resume of the Club’s history as it approaches its 40th birthday and reminding everyone of the importance of sporting activities. Then followed fun games played in age groups against a variety of opponents including parents, teachers and rugby men looking the part in their skirts!

The festivities ended with a barbeque and disco for over 200 people who had attended this historic day.

Two of the founder members, Jean Self (far right) and Heather Edmondson (far left) were present to cut the ribbon and declare the court open ensuring the future of this highly competitive but friendly family orientated club.

 

 

 

An exhibition match followed with many high profile players from several super league teams and Welsh Internationals demonstrating excellent skills playing with Hillcrest’s top players. An exciting experience for their young aspiring talent. Heather was thrilled to watch two daughters and four granddaughters playing during the afternoon, all of them sharing her love of the Club which she had helped to create 40 years earlier.
