Hillcrest Netball Club Codes of Conduct 2 of 4

2. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS, CARERS AND SUPPORTERS

Hillcrest Netball Club recognises that, without the goodwill and efforts of parents and carers, young people would not be able to take part in sporting life, and, in particular enjoy their netball. However, we would like to promote netball in a positive way and would urge you to adopt the following code:

As a Hillcrest parent / carer, I will:

Ensure that players are on time for training, matches (including warm up periods) and events.

Be encouraged to notify the coach or club captain of any medical or personal problems so that they may be acted upon sensitively and appropriately

Ensure players arrive in sufficient time to assist with pre-match duties and leave once post-match duties have been completed for home games, as requested by team captain/vice captain

Respect the decision of the club captain and the coach regarding team selections

Inform the club when players are not available for training, matches or events, if the player cannot do so herself – while we ask the U18s who participate in senior teams to take responsibility for their own communication, we appreciate that this may sometimes be difficult!

Be encouraged to discuss any concerns about selection and individual needs with the club captain

Be aware of the England Netball anti-drugs policy

Abide by the Constitution of the Club

Encourage good and fair play and respect opposing teams and supporters
Have a realistic expectation of my player(s) and be aware of their aims and goals

Accept the umpires’ decisions, in a good grace

Parents and carers should NOT:

Force my child if they are unwilling to participate in the Sport” (from England Netball)
Make negative remarks to players, officials or other spectators
To smoke on or around court areas
To coach players during competition
To contradict instructions given by coaches or captains during matches
